Connection refused usually means nothing is listening on the port or a firewall blocked the request.

What is ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED?

The browser reached the server address but nothing accepted the connection on that port. The service may be down, firewalled or listening on a different port.

Checks for site owners

  • Verify the web server or Node process is running.
  • Confirm DNS A/AAAA records point to the right host.
  • Ensure the firewall allows ports 80 and 443.
  • For Node.js apps, confirm the app port matches your reverse proxy.
